What is Sourcing?

Sourcing is part of Alva Marketplace. It helps recruiters discover your profile when it closely matches an open role - without you having to actively search for opportunities.

If a recruiter thinks you could be a good fit, they can invite you to apply.

Why Sourcing is useful

Sourcing is designed to help you get relevant opportunities with minimal effort:

  • More opportunities - get noticed for roles that match your skills and experience.

  • Less effort - your existing Marketplace profile can be shown to recruiters when it matches a role.

  • You stay in control - you decide whether to be discoverable, and you can opt out at any time.

How Sourcing works

  1. A recruiter posts a role.

  2. Alva’s matching engine checks whether your profile is a strong fit.

  3. If there is a match, the recruiter reviews your basic profile information.

  4. If the recruiter wants to proceed, they invite you to apply.

The entire process runs in the background. You don’t need to do anything beyond keeping your profile up to date.

What happens when you are invited

If a recruiter invites you to apply, you will receive an email invitation. This is how you’ll know a recruiter has found you through Sourcing.

You can then choose to:

  • Apply for the role, or

  • Ignore the invitation

If you ignore it, you do not need to do anything.

What recruiters can and cannot see

When your profile is matched to a role, the recruiter can see:

  • your name

  • your working location

  • your languages

  • your experience

  • your education

  • your skills

Recruiters cannot see:

  • your test scores or assessment results

  • any matching score or ranking

  • the reasons why you were matched

Recruiters review your profile independently and decide whether to invite you to apply.

How to manage your preferences

You are always in control. If you prefer not to be discoverable through Sourcing, you can manage your preferences directly in your account settings.

How to opt out

  1. Log in to your Alva account.

  2. Go to your Account settings.

  3. Find the Marketplace section.

  4. Disable job recommendations and sourcing.

💡What happens when you opt out? Your profile will no longer be matched against open positions, and recruiters will not be able to discover you through Sourcing. Your Marketplace account and saved test results remain intact - you can still reuse your tests when applying for jobs.

If you change your mind, you can re-enable Sourcing and Job Recommendations at any time from the same settings page.
