How Architect helps

When you create a job in Alva's Hiring System, you go through a series of steps to describe the role, define what to assess, and publish the job. Architect β€” Alva's AI β€” works behind the scenes at several of these steps, generating suggestions and drafts so you can focus on reviewing and refining.

Below is a breakdown of how Architect contributes and how its recommendations are made.

Extracting and organising role criteria

After you've shared information about the requirements and tasks of the role, Architect analyses the role description and performs the following tasks:

  • Extracts requirements mentioned in the text

  • Standardises requirements by combining similar skills into generic variants

  • Recommends soft skills β€” if only technical skills are found, it suggests up to five relevant soft skills

  • Categorises requirements into Background & Experience and Skills & Knowledge

The AI component uses one-shot learning, with prompts enriched by vetted examples of correct behaviour. These examples of standardisation and recommendations have been created by trained psychologists in collaboration with Alva's machine learning engineers.

πŸ’‘Note: The hiring team is encouraged to review and edit the generated suggestions based on their own analysis and knowledge of the role. Architect's recommendations are a starting point - not the final word.

Building an assessment plan

Once you've reviewed and accepted your role criteria, Architect generates a recommended assessment plan, linking each criterion to a suitable assessment method.

Where possible, Architect follows this structure:

  • Screening for readiness

  • Personality test

  • Logic test

  • Talent acquisition interview (focused on behaviours and non-technical requirements)

  • Hiring manager interview (focused on technical requirements and familiarity with tools)

Where applicable, Architect may also suggest a case interview or coding test.

Each assessment in the plan will have one or more criteria assigned to it. The hiring team can edit these allocations to ensure each method serves its intended purpose.

Generating interview questions

As part of building the assessment plan, Architect also generates interview templates based on the criteria allocated to each interview.

The questions follow situational and past-behaviour formats, consistent with best practices in structured interviewing. The hiring team can regenerate or edit these questions as needed.
