1. Configure User Setup Permissions in Greenhouse Recruiting
To enable the Greenhouse – Alva integration, you’ll need the developer permission “Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials.”
Ask a Greenhouse Site Admin with the additional permission “Can edit another user’s advanced permissions” to give you access.
In Greenhouse, go to Configure → Users → [Your Name].
Under Permissions, expand Developer Permissions.
Tick Can manage ALL organization’s API Credentials.
Click Save.
💡Note: Repeat this for any other users who will help configure or maintain the integration.
2. Create a Harvest API Key for the Alva Integration
1. Open API Credential Management
Click the Configure icon in the upper-right corner of Greenhouse.
In the left-hand panel, go to Dev Center → API Credential Management.
2. Create a New API Key
On the API Credential Management page, click Create New API Key to start generating your key.
3. Configure the API Key Details
In the dialog box that appears:
Give your API key a descriptive name (for example, Alva Integration).
From the Type dropdown, select Harvest.
Click Create to continue.
4. Set Application Permissions
You’ll now be taken to the Manage API Key Permissions page.
Under the list of permission categories, select “Applications” permissions, then click Update to save your changes.
Your Harvest API key is now created and configured. Share this key securely with your Alva onboarding team so they can complete the setup.
3. Input Your Harvest API Key in Alva
1. Open the Integrations Page
In Alva, go to Account → Integrations.
Locate the Greenhouse Integration and toggle it on to enable the connection.
2. Add Your Harvest API Key
When prompted, paste your Harvest API key into the Greenhouse integration field.
After enabling the integration, an Alva API key will automatically be generated - this key will later be used to activate the integration in Greenhouse.
4. Send the Alva API Key Securely to Greenhouse
Once you have your Alva API key:
Click here to open a ticket with Greenhouse Support.
Do not send the key in the initial email. Greenhouse will respond with a SendSafely link - use this to securely share your Alva API key.
After you submit the key securely, the Greenhouse Support team will confirm that your integration is enabled.
💡Security Note: API keys allow access to sensitive data. Always share them securely - never in plain text or email attachments.
5. Enable Alva Integration in Greenhouse
In Greenhouse, go to Configure → Integrations and Partners.
Search for Alva or visit https://app3.greenhouse.io/partners.
Click Connect and paste your Alva API key in the field.
Save your settings.
