How to Set Up Coding Tests on a Job

Learn to create job positions with coding tests, invite candidates, and manage tests for a smooth selection process.

Written by Pernilla Ahl

This support article will guide you through the process of creating a job position with a preferred coding test, inviting candidates, and managing the coding tests associated with a job position. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to ensure a smooth candidate selection process.

Adding a Coding Test to a Job Position

  1. Find an existing job position or create a new one on the Job positions page.

  2. Go to the selected job position's assessments under the assessments tab.

  3. Press "Add assessment" and choose coding test

  4. Choose which coding test you want the candidates to take

  5. When you have chosen a coding test you have the possibility to set a time limit and programming language as well as tech stack.

Time limit

The time limit is a soft time limit - so candidates can still submit code after the time is up but the overall score will show a score within the time limit and a score after the time limit. If you chose to have a time limit the candidate can't pause the test - the time will tick until the test submitted. For more information on the time limit - see this article

Programming language and tech stack

When choosing programming language and tech stack you can chose one or multiple. Then the candidates will only have those languages and tech stacks to import boilerplate code from.

Invitation

Once you have a job position with a configured coding test, you can start inviting candidates by clicking on the Add Candidate button on the job position page. If a job position has both psychometric and coding tests configured, both tests can be included in a single invite.

Changing the Selected Coding Test for a Job Position

To change the coding test for a job position, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the job position assessments under the assessments tab.

  2. Press the three dots on your current coding test

  3. There you can press "Change coding test" and chose another

Please note that the coding test change will only affect new candidates. The candidates invited before the change will retain the original coding test as part of their application.

Removing the Coding Test from a Job Position

If you want to remove the coding test from a job position, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the job position assessments under the assessments tab.

  2. Click on the three dots

  3. Click on "Remove"

  4. Then click remove again in the confirmation box

The coding test removal will only affect new candidates. The candidates invited before the change will keep the original coding test as part of their application.
