How to Set Up a Job in Alva’s Hiring System

Launching a job in Alva’s Hiring System is simple—and powerful. You’ll move through four clear steps:

  1. Create your job description

  2. Define the criteria to measure

  3. Design a tailored assessment plan

  4. Review and publish

Each stage is designed to support structured, inclusive, and data‑driven hiring. Alva combines human expertise with smart AI to surface relevant assessments and help reduce bias in your hiring decisions

Create your job description

  1. From the home page, click Create Job Position. You will enter the Alva Hiring System.

  2. Add your job description in one of these ways:

    • Use AI: If you don’t have a ready job description, click Ask Architect and let AI generate one based on your job title or notes.

    • Upload a file: Add a PDF.

    • Import from an ad or ATS: Provide a job ad URL or extract it from your ATS.

  3. Review and edit if needed, then click Proceed.

Define role criteria

On this screen, you'll be prompted to define the skills, background, and traits that matter for the role. Alva pre-populates this based on your description—but you’re free to add or remove any criteria to align with your hiring strategy.

This customizable setup ensures your process remains focused on what truly defines success in the role.

Design a tailored assessment process

In this step, you map each criterion to an appropriate assessment:

  • Alva's AI (Architect) provides smart, role‑specific test and coding assessment recommendations based on the job title and role details

  • Alva will suggest a assessment plan including

    • Screening for readiness (how to use this?)

    • Personality test

    • Logic test

    • Coding test (if applicable)

    • Interviews

    • You can add other assessments as needed

  • You can adjust:

    • Which skills/background map to each test.

    • The order in which assessments are taken.

    • Which skills remain unassigned (visible in the right-hand panel).

  • You can also auto-generate structured interview questions tied to skills measurable in each interviews, complete with scoring guidelines

Schemed effectively, this design step ensures a fair, consistent, and evidence-based evaluation process.

Final review

Carefully review your full hiring workflow. When you’re ready:

  • Click Finish to publish.

Once live, your job position becomes active, and you can begin managing candidate flow right in the platform.
