Starting a Test
Before your coding test starts, you will have a chance to review the details surrounding your specific coding test.
If your test has a time limit, the time available to complete the test will be clearly visible in your instructions. If no time limit has been defined here, you are free to spend however long on the coding test as you like.
Your coding test will be accessed through a GitHub repository. If you are unfamiliar with GitHub, click this link to learn more.
Starting a Test with a Time Limit
The timer will start as soon as you click to Start Coding test and get access to your repository, as shown below. The timer cannot be paused once started, so make sure that you have a GitHub account set up that will grant you access to the code test repository.
How to Submit Your Results
Once you are ready to submit your coding test for review, there are two things you need to do:
Open a pull request in your GitHub repository - but do not merge it
Click Submit Results in Alva. If your test is timed, clicking Submit Results will stop the timer
What Happens if the Timer Runs Out?
If you do not manage to submit your test within the allotted time, we will automatically share any committed code in your GitHub repository with the hiring team for review.
You are still free to continue working on the assignment and make a late submission. Late submissions are shared with the hiring team but will be marked as late.
The hiring team will be able to see how late your submission was made.
