Inviting Candidates to Coding Tests

Learn how to invite candidates to complete Alva’s Coding Test - either together with the Personality and Logic assessments or later in the process.

Send the Coding Test at the Same Time as the Psychometric Tests

💡Note: If you’ve already added a Coding Test to your job, you can invite candidates to complete it together with the Personality and Logic tests.

If not, start by following this guide: How to Add Assessments to a Job.

Sending all assessments at once allows candidates to complete everything in one flow and helps speed up your process.

To send all tests at once:

  1. When adding a candidate, select the combination of tests you’d like to send, including the Coding Test, under “Which tests to send now.”

  2. Confirm the details and click Add to send the invitations.

💡 Note: Candidates receive a single email invitation containing all selected assessments. From that one link, they can access and complete each test in sequence at their own pace.

Send the Coding Test Later in the Process

You can choose to send the Coding Test after candidates have completed their Personality and Logic tests. This can be useful if you want to review candidates’ psychometric results first before inviting them to the coding stage.

Step 1: Add the Candidate and Send Only the Psychometric Tests

When you first add the candidate, you’ll send only the Personality and/or Logic tests.

  1. Go to the Candidates tab within your job position.

  2. Click Add candidate.

  3. Enter the candidate’s name and email address.

  4. Under “Which tests to send now,” select Personality test · Logic test.

  5. Confirm and click Add to send the invitation.

Step 2: Send the Coding Test Later

Once the candidate has completed their Personality and Logic assessments, you can invite them to complete the Coding Test.

  1. Go to the Candidates tab in the same job.

  2. Tick the box next to one or several candidates.

  3. Open the Actions dropdown and select Invite candidates.

  4. In the invitation modal, choose Coding test.

  5. Click Send invitation.

💡Note: It’s not possible to send Personality and Logic tests after the Coding Test. If you send only a Coding Test first on a job that has both types configured, the candidate will still see both test types on their application page.
