Default Assessments When Creating a Job

When you create a new job in Alva, your organization’s default assessments are automatically added.
In most cases, this includes the Personality Test and the Logic Test.

If your default setup only includes the Personality Test, you can easily add the Logic Test later in the process. The steps below explain how to adjust or expand your assessment setup to fit the needs of your role.

💡 Note: If you’re also adding interviews or coding tests, see the articles How to Add Interviews to a Job and How to Add Coding Tests to a Job for full instructions.

Add or Change Assessments and Personality Profile

To add or change assessments in a job:

  1. Open your job in Alva.

  2. Go to the Assessments tab.

  3. Click Add assessment, then select the Personality Test and/or Logic Test from the list.

When you add the Personality Test, you’ll be asked to select a Personality Profile - this defines which traits the candidates will be evaluated against.

If the selected profile doesn’t match the role, you can easily change it:

  • Open your job.

  • In the Personality Profile box, click the three dots ().

  • Select Change profile, then choose a new one from the list of available profiles.

💡 Note: You can also edit individual traits on your selected personality profile on job level by clicking the same three dots () and selecting Edit facets to fine-tune the profile for your role.

If you’re unsure which profile to use, Alva’s assistant Architect provides recommendations directly in the Assessments tab.

For more guidance on understanding and selecting the right profile for your role, see How to Choose a Personality Profile.

Viewing and Managing Personality Profiles

To explore all profiles available in your organization - both Alva’s standard and custom ones - go to Assessments → Personality Profiles.
From here, you can review, duplicate, or create new profiles to use for future roles.

💡 Note: If you don’t have access to create or edit Personality Profiles, you may not have the required permissions. Reach out to your organization’s admin for support.

Adjusting the Importance Between Assessments

Once both the Personality and Logic Tests are added, you can decide how much each assessment should influence the candidate’s overall Role Fit score.
This is done by adjusting the importance of each assessment within the Assessments tab. You can edit the importance not only between the Personality and Logic Tests, but also for any other assessments you’ve added to the job.

For a detailed explanation of how importance levels work, see How to Change the Importance of Assessments.
